About AWANA at Grace Community Church:

What is AWANA?

AWANA is one of our nation’s fastest growing youth organizations.  It is part of AWANA Clubs International, a non-denominational program based in Chicago, IL.  AWANA Clubs International sponsors clubs in local churches, around the world in 60 countries and in 15 languages.  The purpose of the club is to reach boys and girls for Christ and train them to serve Him.  AWANA is an acronym for “Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed”, based on 2 Timothy 2:15.

Our AWANA program includes six different clubs:

Cubbies                3 years (by September 1st) – Pre-K
Sparks                  Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd grade
                                boys & girls
Seekers                3rd & 4th grade girls
Challenger’s           3rd & 4th grade boys
Ambassador’s         5th & 6th grade girls
Searchers             5th & 6th grade boys

Each club meeting consists of:

Opening Exercises – announcements, welcome, recognize visitors, pledging to flags, AWANA key verse, AWANA song
Game Time – playing games around the AWANA game circle
Handbook Time – reciting Bible verses/passing AWANA Handbook sections
Council Time – Bible lesson
Award Time – Clubbers receive awards earned

The Clubber’s First Night of AWANA!

If your child (ren) has never attended an AWANA club before, he/she will be given an Entrance Booklet on their first night.  This is the first step in AWANA achievement.  We hope you will help your child complete this booklet in the next three consecutive weeks.  Each segment of the booklet after which the leader signs are known as a “section”.  Clubbers earn awards for completing their sections.  Clubbers are allowed 2 “helps” per section.  Sections must be passed in their entirety in one sitting.  When the entrance booklet is completed, your child is eligible to purchase and AWANA uniform, and handbook, and ear many more awards.  There is a cost for these items.  The uniform contributes towards club unity and “oneness”, as well as providing a place to display awards.  There is no cost for any awards unless they should be lost and replacements are necessary.  Please feel free to contact your child’s leader, if you have any questions.
